I believe the pathways in Granger are vital to the safety of our children, the increased economic prosperity of our region, and the building of a stronger community. I am confident that they will increase our property values and help attract and retain young professionals that so often leave Indiana.

| I am in Granger Paths because I feel Granger needs safe multi-paths to connect subdivisions to schools, libraries, ball fields, churches and the business district. I also think our community needs a safe pathway for walking, running, and biking for those of us who enjoy those activities and to encourage exercise in our community. Less travel by car could improve our air quality. | |

I am a part of Granger Paths because I see great need for children and teens to be able to safely bike to their desintations. I know having paths would also promote exercise for adults. I also believe the paths would help promote a sense of community which Granger needs. |

| Walking is one of my favorite things to do in life. It benefits my health, my relationships and my sanity. I consider myself fortunate living in Brendon Hills where we have path access to the neighborhood school and Prairie Trail. I am all for having more multi-paths throughout our Granger Community. This is a project worth getting involved in.

| Having lived in different cities of the country, I have observed the most desirable and valued communities for "the good lifestyle" (and associated high property values) have parks, pathways and outstanding schools. Granger has the educational system covered but sure needs help on pathways and parks. So, it's time to put together pathways for joggers and bicyclist to safely travel around Granger for personal health and fuel conservation. Wouldn't it be great to walk or bike to our diverse retail establishments? |

'In our hustle and bustle world what better way to slow down and enjoy our community than by walking or cycling to any number of Granger destinations--churches--stores--ball fields-schools--different neighborhoods. Saving gas and incresing fitness, along with a growing sense of community between all of our neighborhoods, are but a few of the benefits for having multi-use paths throughout Granger.'

Friends of Granger Paths are important to me because I LOVE the idea of being able to get exercise while going places. I moved to Granger from Redondo Beach, CA where I lived on a boat in King Harbor Marina. It was right on "The Strand". I rode my bike or Rollerbaded 8 miles back and forth to work almost every day. About 6 miles of it was on the multi-use path along the Pacific Ocean. The last 2 miles I had to dodge traffic. When I moved to Granger I had to dodge traffic the entire route. I was more scared for my life in Granger than in LA! When I found out there were people trying to improve our area by getting multi-use paths, I knew I had to help. Even if I can't use them right now, I know they will be wonderful for generations to come. This is me and my son, Victor the summer after we moved to Granger. |

My initial interest stemmed from the idea that there is a group of women in the Granger area with whom I frequently walk, especially in the summer. I knew there were very few walking paths in our area and that is why we usually drive to Notre Dame and walk around the two lakes. The six of us live in 3 different housing developments and I thought it would be so wonderful to be able to walk around our areas without having to walk in the street since we don’t have sidewalks. So the idea of a series of paths and bridges to connect all of the Granger developments sounded like a fabulous idea with which to become involved. So I joined. You have to understand that I have never joined a committee that I didn’t know at least one person; so this was a first for me. I have so enjoyed getting to know all of the members and the different reasons they have become involved and their passion about seeing this project through to fruition. I have also gained much knowledge about how “jumping through all the hoops” plays such an integral part in the process and learning about all the state and county agencies that are involved and the lengthy period of time it will take to get the job done…(I hope in my lifetime). To watch the 5k Run/Walk evolve has been wonderful; to observe the interest from many Granger residents has been encouraging; it has brought the business people, the places of worship, and the residents together – a positive, cooperative effort which will continue to grow and gain momentum and someday we can look back and know we had a part in getting it done. |

I first read with interest about the Granger Paths project in the Inside Granger magazine and decided to look into this unique plan.
