The Greenways Foundation promotes greenways, blueways and multi-use trails in Indiana.

STATEWIDE EDITION - JULY 2008

On the Path features Indiana trails and greenways news from the Greenways Foundation.

Help Us Build More Trails in Indiana

Now would be an excellent time to become a member of the Greenways Foundation. Our work has taken on extra importance due to the release last month of grant money for over twenty-five projects around the State by the administration of Governor Daniels. We have been, as we always are, working hard to secure more support and funding for trails around the state.  We work with many Indiana communities to help them get their trails built and/or acquire the needed land as quickly as possible. In some places in which we are working, there are still local governmental officials who aren't really ready to push their projects along. Local supporters are ready, but some local officials may not yet have the vision or understand how appropriately sized trails projects can be of major economic benefit to them. We are making presentations all over the State to town boards, city councils and mayors pointing out to them the real benefits of trails and greenways, and are arming them with the facts so that they can more rapidly get their linear park infrastructure built.

Help us build more of these...(Covington Circle Trail)

This is also an excellent time to become either a member of life member of the Foundation because we have partnered this summer with singer/songwriter Jack Johnson and his All At Once Foundation. They will match any money donated to The Greenways Foundation through September 15 of this year, dollar for dollar. We were one of only five local non-profits asked to participate in the Village Green at Jack Johnson's concert held at Verizon Music Center in Indianapolis on June 13th. All At Once is a new social action network connecting non-profits with people who want to become active in their local and world communities. All At Once comes to life on line and at every Jack Johnson concert through the Village Green, a collection of interactive booths where concert goers can get educated, get inspired, and connect face-to-face with local, national, and international non-profits. You can see a small portion of a visit Jack Johnson made to the Greenways Foundation booth prior to his concert by clicking here.

By joining the Greenways Foundation today, you can help make sure that we have the hiking, walking and bicycling infrastructure we need in Indiana sooner rather than later. For more information about the Greenways Foundation and membership opportunity, please visit our home website or our trail directory site. If you mail a membership form and check, please write in the memo line, All AT Once. If you join directly through the web site, just write All At Once in the comments box. That's all you have to do to help make a difference in Indiana's trails and greenways system. Please join today.
