WNDU.com - ND grad helps collect nearly 1,000 pairs of shoes for kids in Africa

One Notre Dame grad spent her morning running for a cause.

Jennifer Korzan was just one of the many people who took part in the Granger Paths 5k Run/Walk Sunday.

The event raises awareness and funding for public paths across Granger.

But Korzan took it one step further.

With help from race organizers, she collected nearly 1,000 pairs of shoes to go to kids in Africa, as part of the Hope Runs program.

This summer, she will take the shoes with her as she volunteers for 10 weeks at a Tanzanian orphanage.

"As a runner, I was really excited about being able to share my passion with these children" said Korzan. "Some of these shoes may be the first pairs of shes that any of these children have ever had, so it was pretty exciting."
